The mission statement of C.H.A.M.P.S. is to provide an educational program to Georgia’s youth, which will provide guidance, and the skills, ability and knowledge to be safe, healthy, and happy, in preparation for a successful life.C.H.A.M.P.S. lesson plans are taught by certified law enforcement officers from local sheriffs’ offices who have successfully completed C.H.A.M.P.S.  instructor training. The target audience for the C.H.A.M.P.S.  program is typically fifth graders, however, the goal of the Georgia Sheriff's Association is to eventually extend this program into middle and high schools.Twelve weeks is recommended but the program may be shortened or extended to meet the county’s needs.
